Everyday, 24 hours a day,
there is a constant traffic of people seeking emergency medical
attention at a local community trauma hospital.
The trauma center is composed of a reception area, a
hallway which leads to many patient rooms, x-ray and
operating room. Like most trauma centers, they are always
on high alert with victims on gurneys or wheelchairs,
awaiting medical attention. Both Doctors and nurses have
worked long hours as a result of medical budget cuts.
The style is similar to “Big Brother” or “Reality
TV”, where in this case, we see the arrival of
the victims via ambulatory services or brought by a friend
and or relative with various wounds and or health problems.
During a normal day, we see a mother holding her unconscious
son who accidentally intoxicated himself after eating
rat poison that looked like candy. The mother is desperately
seeking help and begging not to let her child die.
In another patient room, there is a teenager with a
bullet wound to the chest which is gang related. We also
witness the teenager’s mother in the hallway, talking
to the Doctor about her son’s condition and at
the same time she prays for his survival.
Hidden cameras located in various areas of the emergency
room will capture all of these stories; this will give
the viewer the same intimacy the patient, doctor and
nurse exchange. Each case will be captured from the entrance
of the hospital proceeding to their medical application
and see the end results. This will continue like a cycle,
beginning a new wave of humanity needing all the possible
help a trauma center has to offer.
